Where the idea came from
Hi, my name is Katie. Christmas is my absolute favourite time of year, partly because I can indulge in lovely childhood memories of Christmas time and partly because I get to make some beautiful memories for my children, Robyn aged 10 and Jakey, aged 6.
I have many magical memories of Christmas time, but the feeling of a present filled stocking, heavy on my feet is simply magic! I pondered, does that Christmas magic feeling only have to happen on Christmas Eve night, or can we elongate it?
I don’t need to remind you what 2020 was like. One of the things that helped me through that Christmas was organising a living advent calendar in the village where I live in Yorkshire. This really got my imagination going. The challenge I set myself was what can I do to get Christmas magic into people homes during advent and to connect with children in a magical way?
After a fair bit of head scratching, creative thinking and hard work, I’m delighted to be able to share the Little Elves Advent Calendar with you. It is my hope that you find it accessible and engaging for your children, that it becomes a magical tradition for your family, and in years to come, something your children will come to remember, with a full heart and a warm smile.
